Biography:

Yesang Cho (he/him) is a second-year PhD student at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, committed to examining neighborhood effects on health among neurodiverse populations. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social welfare from Seoul National University (SNU).

Prior to starting his PhD course in Madison, Yesang worked as a social worker at the Hanam Community Rehabilitation Center in South Korea, where he designed and implemented community-based programs for individuals with severe mental illness (SMI). In addition, after completing his master’s degree, he served as a department secretary and the SNU Department of Social Welfare.

He works as a graduate research assistant in The Bishop Lab, where he aims to explore the effects of neighborhood deprivation on the physical and mental health of autistic adults using a GIS-based approach. Furthermore, he plans to develop ML-driven models to analyze and address the structural causes of societal stigma affecting the neurodiverse population.
